What is Alexa?

Today, you might watch TV, computer or mobile to know the news or weather before you step out. What if you could do the same by simply telling “Alexa, what is the weather?” or “Alexa, what is my flash briefing?”.
Alexa is Amazon’s cloud-based voice service available through Alexa enabled devices like Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Show, Echo Spot and several other third-party devices. Alexa is built so that a user can ask questions and command actions in natural human-like conversation.
The goal of Alexa is to provide a more intuitive way to interact with technology in daily use, by using voice commands. One could control the temperature inside the house or switch-on the master bedroom light and more by just talking to the Alexa enabled devices.

What is an Alexa Skill?

Similar to a mobile app, Alexa Skill is an application built to perform certain functions based on voice commands. Unlike a mobile app, the skill is not downloaded to any device, rather, it is enabled on your Amazon account and used via the device.
The Skills (apps) ranges from ordering pizza, listening to news and music and more just by talking to an Alexa enabled device. There are thousands of skills currently available to perform various functions including controlling your smart home (switch on lights etc).
These skills are built by Amazon and third parties. Visit alexa.amazon.com to find skills of your need.

Why do I need to link my amazon account?

You can personalize by uploading your own audio files, for which you have to link your Amazon account with our service.

How to upload my audio file?

Sign-in with your amazon.com credentials. Once logged, choose the skill to upload your files.

Why is there a 4 minutes limit on audio files?

For now, it’s a restriction from Amazon. We are sure this will change for the better soon.

Can I increase my file limit count?

Sure! Just mail us your requirements and we will help you.

Why should I sign in with my amazon credentials?

You will have one less password to remember on our site. Also, this is required for personalization of our Echo skills.

What information is shared about my amazon login?

Your login UserID, Name and Email. No other details are shared or stored in our site.

How do I sign in and personalize?

Follow these steps for personalization:

Visit https://decibelapps.com

1) Click SIGN IN on top menu
2) Click Login with Amazon

3) Enter your amazon.com credentials (username and password)

4) Once your login is successful, you will see the list of DecibelApps – Alexa Skills.

5) Click the skill to personalize
6) Click Add icon

7) Upload your notes/audio content.

How to do account linking using amazon credential from mobile?

Link Account: By amazon Alexa mobile app.

Step 1: Open your amazon Alexa and go to Skills section.

Step 2: In Skill section search and find the Skill.

For example, search for Happy Gram skill and select Happy Gram then click enable button.

Step 3: After skill is enabled. Click on link account button.

Step 4: After clicking on link account, need to provide the amazon credential and sign-In.

If the account linking is successfull, you will get the success message. Otherwise ensure that you have provided valid credential.

How to do account linking using amazon credential from web browser?

Link Account: By amazon Alexa web.

Step 1: Open your favorite browser and visit https://alexa.amazon.com and login using your amazon credentials used for amazon echo setup. After logging in, go to skills section.
